The latest quarterly earnings matters, sure, but we actually think longer-term fundamentals and valuation matter more. Investors should consider all these pieces before deciding whether or not to invest in Ingram Micro.
We cheer for all companies making their customers lives easier, but in the case of Ingram Micro, we’ll be cheering from the sidelines. For starters, its revenue growth was weak over the last five years, and analysts don’t see anything changing over the next 12 months. While its scale makes it a trusted partner with negotiating leverage, the downside is its declining EPS over the last three years makes it a less attractive asset to the public markets. On top of that, its low free cash flow margins give it little breathing room.
Ingram Micro’s P/E ratio based on the next 12 months is 6.7x. While this valuation is optically cheap, the potential downside is huge given its shaky fundamentals. There are better investments elsewhere.
Wall Street analysts have a consensus one-year price target of $24.92 on the company (compared to the current share price of $23.04).
