The company’s full-year revenue guidance of $1.11 billion at the midpoint came in 1.7% below analysts’ estimates. Its GAAP profit of $0.05 per share was in line with analysts’ consensus estimates.

Its growth surpassed the average financials company and shows its offerings resonate with customers, a great starting point for our analysis.

Long-term growth is the most important, but within financials, a half-decade historical view may miss recent interest rate changes and market returns. The latest quarterly earnings matters, sure, but we actually think longer-term fundamentals and valuation matter more. Investors should consider all these pieces before deciding whether or not to invest in Payoneer.
Payoneer’s business quality ultimately falls short of our standards. Although its revenue growth was exceptional over the last five years, it’s expected to deteriorate over the next 12 months and its mediocre ROE lags the market and is a headwind for its stock price.
Payoneer’s P/E ratio based on the next 12 months is 17.9x. This multiple isn’t necessarily cheap, but we’ll happily own Payoneer as its fundamentals shine bright. We’re in the camp that investments like this should be held for at least three to five years to negate the short-term price volatility that can come with relatively high valuations.
Wall Street analysts have a consensus one-year price target of $8.38 on the company (compared to the current share price of $4.75).
Although the price target is bullish, readers should exercise caution because analysts tend to be overly optimistic. The firms they work for, often big banks, have relationships with companies that extend into fundraising, M&A advisory, and other rewarding business lines.
